FULL SYNOPSIS
When Barney and Charlotte buy a run-down old theatre, they dream of bringing live entertainment back to their town. To celebrate the grand opening, they announce a talent competition with a cash prize, attracting an unforgettable mix of singers, dancers, bands and larger-than-life personalities, each carrying their own hopes, fears and dreams.
As friendships begin to form and confidence starts to grow, an innocent printing mistake turns the competition upside down, while a jealous rival theatre owner plots to destroy everything they’ve worked so hard to build. When disaster strikes on the eve of opening night, the performers must decide whether they’re chasing fame… or something far more important.
Packed with heart, humour and uplifting musical moments, The Grandest Show is a feel-good celebration of friendship, teamwork, believing in yourself and discovering that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when they work together.
CHARACTERS -Originally written for 38 principal roles plus an ensemble dance troupe and choir who also have speaking lines to share out depending on troupe sizes. Flexible casting allows roles to be doubled, reduced, or adapted to suit your group, with a recommended cast size of 45–65 performers.
