A substantial 14 verse (56 lines) 3 page poem with plenty of scope for solo performance, class work, choral speaking or individual line work
This poem describes the four classical elements air, fire, water, and earth by giving each one its own voice and personality.
It begins with air, portrayed as invisible, fast-moving, and ever-present, something we rely on but often don’t notice. Then comes fire, shown as powerful and mesmerizing, capable of both warmth and destruction. The poem moves to water, which is gentle and life-giving but can also be forceful and dangerous. Next is earth, depicted as strong and sustaining, providing a home for life but also being exploited and neglected by humans.
In the final stanza, the poet brings all four elements together, emphasizing that they are interconnected and essential for life. The overall message is that balance among these elements is crucial, and without any one of them, life on Earth could not exist.
This is an adaptable Script Locker poem. You may change, cut or add lines, to suit your performers.
