FULL SYNOPSIS
Boogie Wonderland is a fast-paced, musical comedy inspired by Alice in Wonderland, following an imaginative school girl Alice.
During a dull classroom lesson about imagination, Alice’s tendency to daydream once again makes her the target of teasing from her classmates. As her teacher encourages the class to imagine magical worlds beyond reality, Alice drifts into a vivid dream after being knocked unconscious in class.
She awakens in the strange and chaotic world of Wonderland, where nothing makes sense and everyone seems gloriously mad. Along the way, Alice encounters a frantic talking rabbit, a sarcastic Doorknob who guides her through magical doors, and a host of eccentric creatures including racing animals, gossiping flowers, a cryptic Caterpillar, the mischievous Cat, and a wildly unpredictable Mad Hatter’s tea party.
As Alice journeys deeper into Wonderland searching for answers, she is constantly challenged by riddles, nonsense, and bizarre logic that force her to question what is real.
Her adventure eventually leads her to the outrageous Queen of Hearts and her chaotic garden party, where tempers flare, croquet turns absurd, and Wonderland descends into complete madness.
Alice suddenly awakens back in her classroom to discover the entire adventure was sparked by a bump on the head during class. Though her classmates dismiss her story as nonsense, Alice is forever changed by her journey.
Filled with humour, music, eccentric characters, and heartfelt moments, Boogie Wonderland is a joyful celebration of imagination, individuality, and the power of embracing your inner weirdness.
CHARACTERS -Originally written for 39 principal roles plus optional ensemble roles for younger performers. Flexible casting allows roles to be doubled, reduced, or adapted to suit your group, with a recommended cast size of 28 –55 performers.
